Rain rain go away come again another day

by

That was the chant of many I’m sure on a dreary mothers day which featured a 3:30 rain delay at the Reds game among the ruined holiday  for outdoor events. Now moving on to Monday.

2. I still expect clouds and a few showers to linger. Lows will be near 60 with highs only in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s thanks to the clouds.

3.  Tuesday is a bit tricky. The trough moves through the region. My thinking is northern regions ( CVG) are mostly sunny, the mid-levels are to dry for precip. However regions further south ( BWG, LOZ) see more clouds in closer proximity to a very weak shortwave disturbance which should track across TN. Modeling is having a hard time. Does this shortwave mainly influence TX or the Ohio valley. It’s not strong and two pieces would lead to a lower chance of our weather being influenced from it as well. If this suttle shortwave tracks further north then some scattered showers could occur Tuesday for southern KY. Not sold on that but the chance is present. Lows in the mid 50’s and highs in the mid 70’s.

4. Ridging becomes established in the central plains by mid week. Also the trough becomes reinforced in the east from the middle to end of the week. Looks like the battleground is setting up as anticipated for this month. Southerly flow thanks to the ridging approaching the region allows for highs to get close to 80 with lows in the mid 50’s.  The front leading the reinforcement of the trough may clip our region, so once again a shower or storm can’t be ruled out Wednesday afternoon.

5. This battleground may put the region in a MCS friendly zone late this week. I’ll be watching that. Still think the tropical system on the GFS is unlikely to occur.
