Wet Wednesday, slight chance of Mix north Monday AM

by

1. Monday I’m still going with a 30% chance of rain showers which may mix with sleet and snow north of I-64. No accumulations.  Otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies. Going warmer than guidance throughout this forecast update. lows will range from 30-40 with highs from the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

UPDATE: I’m adding in patchy fog for overnight since winds have gone calm for a few hours. Dense fog adv Southeast into the bluegrass.

2. Tuesday we will be between systems allowing for mostly sunny skies with lows from the upper 20’s to mid 30’s. Highs will range from 50-60.

3. Wednesday a closed low should bring plenty of rain as it tracks over the region. Rainfall should range from 1/4-1/2 inch with locally higher amounts south and east. Always like to go on the lower side of guidance with qpf. lows will range from around 32 north to 40’s in the south with highs in the 50’s. I’ll be watching trends to see if far northern KY again can start as freezing rain.

4. Colder air ushers in Thursday. We will have a few cold days but besides the flurries and light rain showers behind the front I don’t see any chances for snow at this time. This puts us one step closer to a new snowless record at Lexington.

Saw a few sleet reports this morning. This was the only forecast I know of that had sleet!

Good job on the sleet forecast!

What’s your opinion on the storm the gfs is advertising for this weekend into Monday?

I think the cold air would likely suppress it south of the state.

Looks just warm enough for all rain Wednesday for the north and in the valleys.
