Updated Christmas thoughts

by

1. Today looks good from previous forecast mostly sunny with most of us getting into the upper 40’s.

2. Taking out rain chance for Christmas day. Expect a fair mix of sun and clouds. upper 40’s for highs on avg with lows in the 30’s.  System energy holds back more to the southwest.

3. ECMWF was on right track with another system Tuesday. This closed low feature will lift north into the region Monday night and Tuesday with rain. This is a very broad surface low feature. The further southeast the lowest pressure is means we could have a chance to end the precipitation as snow Tuesday afternoon is all regions but BG, little or no accumulation. Also concerned about frz rain for Covington and Ashland regions temperatures look just above freezing when precipitation starts now.

4. For those wanting snow drive to either St.Louis or Indy I suspect Cold air advection and dynamical cooling leads to threat for a few inches of snow for these regions Tuesday morning.

Merry Christmas Mitch! Maybe we can get a little snow this week 🙂

Still watching Mon-Tue storm. Dynamical cooling could allow a changeover from rain to snow Tuesday afternoon. Models haveing hard time on storm track which determines amount of WAA. Expecting banded precip as well.
