Any severe Sunday will be isolated

by

Overall I still expect a summertime pattern to continue the next several days with a heat ridge in the southern plains making occasional moves into the region with lows in the 60’s and highs pushing or exceeding 90.

Sunday a frontal boundary will likely go a little further south than I thought earlier this week increasing the chances for scattered storms and mcs’s. Lapse rates and CAPE values suggest instability which may promote a strong storm or two over the region that could produce gusty winds.  shear values and model hodographs are very far from showing a severe set-up thus the concern is low. Please scroll below for an announcement about my new position with the NWS in NJ.
10 pm saturday update: MCS north over IND/OH moving southeast into northern KY overnight. concern over northeast KY where shear and instabilty are both ample for storms to maintain strong to severe intensity.
