recent heavy rains have increased soil moisture across the region dramatically this promotes more rainfall with future systems
– Teleconnection pattern for the rest of may in to early summer all point to a continued chilly and stormy pattern
– main ridge axis over Rockies with east coast overall synoptic pattern shouldn’t change much
– CFS model showing large region of below normal temperatures over our region and the great lakes
the previous outlook had been for near normal conditions. However with these new factors into play this shifts the balance to slightly colder and stormier than normal.
