Update on the next few days and NWS budget news

by

Pierce will be posting the next few days as I will be in Norman,OK for Thursday-Saturday.

Today I expect highs in the mid 50’s to low 60’s with sunny skies. With warm air advection temperatures will be warmer for Thursday with highs in the 60’s regionwide. Friday We’ll have a chance for showers as in addition to the warm air advection moisture comes north as well. I still think a storm tracks from southern plains and up the apps this weekend leading to a heavy rain to some snow event with accumulating snow on the northwest side of the low. Rainfall of another inch perhaps 2 could be common focused on Saturday with a few strong storms that may have gusty winds. A look for any severe weather does show some shear however instability which has little with the last several systems is even less this go around and in fact there should be considerable clouds which would also lessen storm development.

A met major here at WKU  will be going to Washington DC  Tuesday to make a presentation on behalf of the NWS regarding the budget issues to the committee in charge of the budget for the NWS. Wish her luck!
