Moderate snow for some regions today

A moderate to heavy snow band has set-up across the state today from Maysville to Lexington and Louisville southwest toward Paducah. Within this band snowfall rates are approaching 1 inch per hour. South and east of this band surface temperatures are warming into the upper 30’s and low 40’s. Even with the warm surface and roads the snowfall rates in many places are high enough to overcome the warm ground with snowfall rates approaching 1 inch per hour. Several inches of snow will be possible this afternoon for Maysville, Lexington, Elizabethtown, Louisville and even potentially Bowling Green. A sharp-cutoff to little snow should run from just east of Bowling Green to Winchester. Reports of 3 inches have come in from the western portions of the state today where this moderate snow has fallen.
