a few odd thoughts

by

1. still think some areas in northeast ky and east ky valleys see some mixed precip Wednesday night

2. Thinking instability may be marginal enough for some strong to severe storms new years eve. remember our october and thanksgiving severe events almost no instability but considerable amounts of shear and helicity provided the spark for severe weather. i would not be so quick to dismiss the chance based on the lack of instability. gusty winds would be the main threat.

3. like the thanksgiving system it may change to a period wet snow late saturday and early sunday.

4. secondary low formation early next week with an additional energy form the southwest as well. This low should track across the southeast Tue-Wed of next week the ECMWF is warmest and wettest with a  cold heavy rain. The CMC brings accumulating snow with the GFS solution bringing a mix of freezing rain and rain. Still many days for this to play out.

5. the 14 day is updated

6. new links and pages to the side make sure to check those out. Also I’m looking for someone to help post watches and warnings  for severe weather and post on rare occasions. Any high school students with an interest in meteorology this may be a good item for the resume!
