12:00 AM update

mesonet current temps

two things to point out here

1. actual frz pt is 32.2*F

2. the cold ground may allow for freezing rain with 2 meter temperatures slightly over freezing. That is why I’ve been using the surface temperature values for modeled temps with this event.

3. precipitation is picking up in intensity across the region. One band from the bluegrass into northern and eastern Kentucky which is mainly snow. Band 2 which is from Bowling Green to Evansville is a mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain with precip rates of .05 inches per hour moving northeast. Band 3 is about the same intensity near Hopkinsville.

Central Great Lakes sector loop

No update to the forecast precipitation type matches up very well with the 3 pm forecast update.
