00z gfs 500 mb map for Monday

notice a few differences

1. the gfs is faster with the energy moving into the southwest and southern plains on the new 00z run

2. this run is also keep the influences of the eastern trough further away

3. the trough tilt is more south-north than nw-se on the new gfs run

now what do the surface maps look like

18z

00z

I think folks in Kansas know something is different. the new gfs run still puts a squash effect the next day but light snow makes it close. I expect a similar trend to continue over the next few days in terms of model correction. The 12z cmc run showed the storm while the jma backed off and the 12z euro looked like a gfs run. model mayhem continues for a few more days.

– just flurries today I warned you folks in the east things weren’t looking good

– speaking of east ky still some flood warnings in progress and rainfall in local spots was heavier than expected.

– oh yeah one more thing about a snow band saturday morning that tracks from cincy to ashland and brings accumulating snow with it. I will be watching closely as you folks stand a chance to see light accums from this Saturday. While Bowling Green could see 50 *F.
