quick notes

by

– Today I expect an increase in clouds with showers late in the day along a warm front.

1. Later today I will detail the timing of our turkey day weather

A: highs near 70 with strong southerly winds and some sun, great day to get outdoors before dinner.

B: rapid temp drop in the evening with rain and storms

C: ending as a period of moderate snow and sleet then snow which could lead to grassy coatings under an inch in some spots. I don’t plan on making a snow map for this event.

D: Very cold friday with a midnight high and daytime temps below or near freezing.

2. We quickly rebound with another monster low early next week with rain and thunder along with strong WAA ahead of the system. Once again the secondary low theory may apply along this frontal system on Wednesday with much colder air coming into the region. At this time models are showing moisture in the region to produce some snow with the 12z euro run most bullish on this and the 00z cmc showing decent snow shower activity.

3. This back and forth pattern should continue for the month with temperatures averaging slightly cooler than normal. A negative NAO and AO ( colder pattern usually)  will battle a strong pac jet typical of a la-nina pattern which brings milder pacific air east.

rain moving in faster into colder and drier air- as a result sleet mixing in this morning. consider this some bonus wintry precip.

  2. mitchg Says:

12z US models still like the idea for a period of wintry precip from 9-12z thursday morning.
