scattered severe storms this afternoon

by

CAPE has risen to over 3000 J/KG across most of the region and with LI values approaching -10 the atmosphere has become extremely unstable this afternoon and with a trigger in place across the north scattered severe storms have fired. The main threats from these slow-moving storms will be damaging winds, small hail and even a tornado are not out of the question. Current warnings are in place for storms in Shelby county and the Cincy area with strong storms just east of Pikeville. These storms will move southeast slowly early this evening with the best storm chances north of 1-64.
