slight risk of severe storms today ( severe thunderstorm watch till 6 pm)

by

Heard that many times this summer along with its hot. Right now in terms of records Louisville has a shot for this to be the warmest June on record with this a top 10 warm June elsewhere. A frontal boundary which produced an impressive band of severe storms yesterday to our northwest is further south and east today but weaker. Thunderstorms should from ahead of the front this afternoon with gusty winds as the main threat. Highs will be near 90 again today with lows in the muggy mid 60’s to low 70’s. tomorrow we may be a degree or two cooler as the front hangs up to our south.

Central Great Lakes sector

12:30 pm update:

a severe thunderstorm watch has bene issued for northeast ky

WW0405 Radar

Thoughts: the front will serve as a trigger for thunderstorms this afternoon ahead of the front. similar to Monday CAPE values are near 3000 and a LI of -6   which are favorable to promote more thunderstorm developement near and along the front. The thunderstorms should organize into linear form by mid afternoon as they move south and east. Areas from a Lexington to London line northeast will be affected by this activity. The main threat from storms will be gusty winds.
