Slight risk of severe storms today

by

Our overnight thunderstorm complex stayed north and dissipated quite  a bit overnight and is just now bringing some scattered rumbles of thunder to northern Kentucky which will move into the bluegrass around noontime. Another complex is currently over northern Missouri heading east this complex will likely weaken this morning before potentially recharging as it moves into our region by late this afternoon and evening. Model data has a favorable sounding for severe weather in Lexington early evening with LI values near -6 and a cape of 2000, this degree of instability will likely lead to the recharging of this second mcs. The spc has a 30% zone for northern regions for hail and gusty winds. Those along with locally hvy rains will be the main threats later today.

This cold front will keep thunderstorm chances with us through tomorrow so another mcs or two along the front overnight tonight into Thursday are also possible.

I’ll update later today as needed.
