adding thunderstorms to the equation

by

1. I’ve already gone over that this will be a showery weekend there will be rain most days but not a total washout by any means. Today I add some thunderstorm chances to this as well with the transport of some deeper moisture into the region by Thursday and with the off and on nature of the rain I could see a window open up for higher levels of  instability Thursday afternoon. The SPC has a see text and are taking a conservative  approach for thursday which I agree with.

VERTICALLY STACKED CYCLONE SHOULD REMAIN QUASI-STATIONARY OVER THE
LOWER/MIDDLE MO RIVER VALLEY ON THURSDAY. WHILE EARLY INDICATIONS
ARE THAT SHOWERS/TSTMS WILL SPREAD NORTHEASTWARD EARLY IN THE DAY
ACROSS THE MIDWEST VIA A WARM ADVECTION REGIME…SUBSEQUENT DAYTIME
HEATING COINCIDENT WITH AN AXIS OF LOWER 50S F DEWPOINTS IMMEDIATELY
AHEAD OF PROBABLE SURFACE OCCLUSION COULD SUPPORT RELATIVELY
   LOW-TOPPED STRONG/SEVERE TSTM DEVELOPMENT BY MID/LATE AFTERNOON
ACROSS THE MIDDLE MS/LOWER OH RIVER VALLEYS. SEVERE HAIL/PERHAPS A
BRIEF TORNADO WOULD APPEAR TO BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS. INHERENT
NUMERICAL GUIDANCE VARIABILITY AT THIS JUNCTURE AND A RELATIVELY
MARGINAL MOISTURE/INSTABILITY REGIME PRECLUDES A CATEGORICAL SLIGHT
   RISK AT THIS TIME.

I see enough to add Isolated thunderstorms to the forecast of showers throughout the rest of the week and will keep a close eye on any severe threat for Thursday and Friday. I would think now if thunderstorms develop they will only be in the mid-afternoon to sunset timeframe with some gusty winds possible either day and a hail concern Friday as the upper level low gets closer with cold air aloft.
