snow and cold this week

by

– temps throughout the week will be cold with lows in the lower 10’s and highs only in the mid 20’s on avg though friday will be slightly colder and Wednesday slightly warmer.

– we have two chances for snow this weekend

A: a disturbance coupled with a more northerly flow off the great lakes should lead to a period of snow showers Late Monday into Tuesday, The NAM in my view best represents this event and with snow ratios of 20:1 some light accums are likely along with slick spots for the tue am commute.

my snowfall forecast mon night-tue from snow showers local 3 inch amounts are possible as well in the 1-2 zone.

B: the models are going back and forth now on Thursday even more but the trend is for less moisture to come north the gfs has gone from a 5-10 inch solution to 1-3 in 4 runs. Other models still do have more qpf and the Nam and GFS at 84 hr are far apart, so i will wait another day before making a first call for snow totals.

another bonus snow last night that’s a clear miss on my part. i’ll do better tonight. I’ve been away all day and will update after the 00z runs tonight as it stands now i will likely expand the snow tonight westward an increase totals slightly. 12z models were also wetter thinking 2-4 or 3-5 totals for Thursday, nam may be handle to the forcing of thie system moving along the front the best. Quite a few school kids may get the whole week off b/c of snow and if they go Thursday expect a early lunch and release.

    – expect more light snow to come in tonight with slick spots forming quickly
