when is the heat coming???

by

i played high school football and the end of July into the first of August is known as “camp week” where we would have three full practices each day. It’s also the hottest time of the year. it sure doesn’t seem like it this week, let’s see if the weekend into next week has any changes for us.

1. we had a solid rain for most of us yesterday however there was a sharp east cutoff besides that the totals verified fairly well. tonight some more patchy fog is possible again due to leftover moisture with lows near 60.

2. Friday and Saturday with a sw flow allowing highs to get into the 80’s both days, thunderstorms are possible late Saturday, this is a powerful front by July standards so some stronger storms are possible. I think a slight risk will be warranted for storms with gusty winds as dynamics are favorable and instability, forcing  should be abundant.

UNSEASONABLY STRONG UPPER LOW WILL SETTLE INTO THE GREAT LAKES/OH
VALLEY REGION SATURDAY WITH CORE OF MODERATE-STRONG MID LEVEL FLOW
EXPECTED TO EXTEND ACROSS THE MID MO VALLEY…THROUGH THE BASE OF
THE TROUGH OVER THE OH VALLEY.  THIS EVOLUTION WILL ALLOW A SHARP
COLD FRONT TO SURGE ACROSS MI/IND/IL/MO BY MID AFTERNOON.  IF
SUFFICIENT MOISTURE/INSTABILITY CAN RETURN AHEAD OF THIS FRONTAL
ZONE IT APPEARS LARGE SCALE FORCING WILL BE MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR
ORGANIZED THUNDERSTORMS…ESPECIALLY ALONG AN AXIS FROM LAKE
ERIE…SWWD ALONG THE OH RIVER INTO NRN AR.  WILL INTRODUCE LOW
PROBABILITIES FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE AFOREMENTIONED
AREA…HOWEVER A SLIGHT RISK MAY NEED TO BE ADDED TO THIS REGION FOR
POSSIBLE SUPERCELLS/SEVERE LINE SEGMENTS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
   HAIL/DAMAGING WINDS.

3. Sunday will only see highs around 80 behind the front.

4. more week fronts and disturbances more typical of summertime will keep storm chances going and with the main heat ridge well to our west a pattern of occasional storms and low to  mid 80’s will continue through the next 10 days.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG
ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT THIS MORNING.

CLEAR SKIES…LIGHT WINDS…AND MOISTURE FROM RECENT RAINFALL HAVE
COMBINED TO CREATE AREAS OF FOG ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING.
PATCHY DENSE FOG IS BEING OBSERVED…WITH VISIBILITY NEAR ZERO
IN SPOTS. FOG WILL BURN OFF SHORTLY AFTER SUNRISE…AND AFTER
9 AM MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES ARE EXPECTED.
