things don’t always seem as they appear

1. my 3 pt rebuttal against severe weather didn’t pan out as mother nature decided to clear things out and not have storms to our south. large hail was noticed across the region a link to some pics

thursday will see some scatt snow showers the best chances for grassy coatings are ne of lex highs will be at midnight at 40 ish then temps will hold steady near 30 today. nw winds will be strong as well. friday will be another cold day with nw flow and highs in the low to mid 30’s.

2. friday and saturday am will see a clipper which looks to move farther north on the latest model runs I’m thinking this only piece of the puzzle. a period of snow would occur over northern and eastern ky with under an inch of snow and temps in the low 30’s. this northern trend would lead to the best snows from this for areas like Chicago, Ball State university in Muncie,IN and Columbus.

i said only a piece of the puzzle

piece 2 is of intrest for later saturday into sunday, late morning highs  sat in the mid to upper 30’s are possibile before the cold front moves through and with the aid of WAA precip breaks out along and behind it by days end. with piece 2 digging and forming an area of low pressure . i expect all snow from late sat pm till sun the main window for precip with piece 2 there is potential for a start w/ rain but it is only a small one.

this solution is different than yesturday’s which just had the clipper so like with the severe weather today and my 3 points, things don’t always seem as they appear.

as you can see by the that last snow map the models have trended away from a bigger storm for sun, snow showers hvy at times are leaving quick accums on grass just had a hvy one in versailles with near 0 visabilty a classic example on how hvy snow rates can overcome a warm ground. .4 snow in about 10-15 mins yileds about 2 in/hr. so it was an impressive snow shwr.
